About GearPuff
We test products so you don't waste money on bad ones. That's the whole pitch.
How this started
GearPuff started because I got tired of reading reviews that were basically press releases with a score attached. Every site had the same problem: free review units, manufacturer relationships, and affiliate links pointing to the highest bidder.
I wanted a place where someone actually buys the thing, uses it for a few weeks, and writes about what happened. No freebies. No editorial calendars dictated by PR teams. Just honest takes on whether a product is worth your money.
So I started buying products and reviewing them myself. Over time, the team grew. Priya joined to cover wearables and audio. Ravi handles smart home and AI gadgets. Same rules apply to everyone: buy it, test it, tell the truth.
How we test
Every review follows the same process. We buy the product at retail price. We use it as intended for at least 2 weeks (4 weeks for anything with a battery or subscription). We take notes. We compare it to competitors in the same price range. Then we write it up.
We don't accept sponsored content. We don't let manufacturers preview or approve our reviews. If we affiliate link to a product, we pick the retailer based on price and reliability, not commission rates.
What we stand for
We buy everything ourselves
No sponsored units. No free samples. Every product on this site was purchased at full retail price with our own money.
We test for weeks, not hours
A 2-hour unboxing isn't a review. We live with products for 2 to 4 weeks before writing anything. Battery life, build quality, real-world quirks, all of it.
We tell you what sucks
Every product has flaws. We list them. If a $200 headphone has bad mic quality, you'll hear about it. If a smartwatch drops Bluetooth every few days, we'll say so.
We update our reviews
Products change. Firmware updates fix bugs or break things. We revisit old reviews and update them so you're not reading stale advice.
How we make money
GearPuff earns revenue through affiliate links. When you buy a product through one of our links, we get a small commission from the retailer. You don't pay extra. The price is the same whether you use our link or go directly to the store.
This is how most review sites operate. The difference is we don't let affiliate relationships decide what we review or what we say about a product. A $10 commission isn't worth lying to you.
The team
We're a small group of people who genuinely enjoy testing gadgets. Each reviewer specializes in different categories, which means you get someone who actually knows the space, not a generalist writing from a spec sheet.
